Introduction The Following is an excerpt in the SLR Lounge Lightroom Preset System v5 and Adjacent workshop. The Lightroom Preset System is intended to take you from Ordinary to Extraordinary photos in just a couple of seconds after clicks. In this tutorial we’re going to be producing a wonderful soft black and white eye for a toddler baby recorded by the Newborn Photography Workshop where we now teach photographers how to shoot beautiful toddlers with almost any camera using only natural window light and a reflector. The complete written tutorial is below, and you may even watched the video tutorial at the end of this report. Here’s a sneak peak at what our image will look like before and after our edit. Black and White Conversion for Newborns the very first thing we did to this picture was adjust our Color Tempurature to taste, also in this case we employed the Eye Dropper Tool (W) carrying a reading from the fur that the newborn is sleeping . After our Colour Temperature adjustment we used our”Base — Soft: 12b Super Soft — B&W” preset to personalize our photograph. This preset does each our job for us and after this preset is applied our photo edit is pretty much finished. So let’s discuss what this preset did. To begin with, the Highlights and Whites are black and white – soft lightroom preset – tuts & reviews removed to -60 and -40. This will be to smooth out highlights by making them closer to the mid-tones and slopes. This adjustment has the effect of softening highlights over skin tones giving us more evenly colored skin. Next, Clarity has been dropped to -20 in order to cut down mid-tone comparison. The reduction of mid-tone contrast again helps us achieve a softer and more appealing look. HoweverI would caution to not select the Clarity slider down too far as it can make an overly-soft looking picture completely lacking in contrast and mid-tone detail. In such a black and white conversion the Reds, Oranges, and Yellows in the HSL are being increased, which is chiefly for skin tones. This brightens up the skin tones, and further improving the delicate flattering appearance. We now have our normal quantity of Sharpening for portraits employed to this image which you can view below. Also worth noting, the preset we selected dialed in a Noise Reduction Luminance atmosphere of +30. Noise reduction was inserted to the preset to be able to quickly lower a tiny bit of this pore detail in the skin which makes it a slightly smoother overall look. At an Sum of +30, We’ll see a nice smoothing effect over skin, while keeping the Vast Majority of our nice detail in the eyes Etc
